Wyndham Central College understands the importance of technology in assisting students with their learning, and will support students in developing digital literacy, fluency, and citizenship, and prepare them for the future world in which they will live, learn and work.
While laptops leased through College from prior years will continue until the three-year lease period finishes, from 2022 onwards, we are implementing a Managed Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program for all new laptops. This change is in line with the Department of Education and Training’s Parent Payment Policy and will involve a partnership with Learning with Technologies.
A Managed BYOD program is where the school chooses a supplier to provide laptops directly to students, while working together with the supplier to support the device through the school’s Information Technology department with regards to technology issues and providing assistance for warranty/insurance claims. The program aims to:
- Work towards the creation of a collaborative digital learning environment that supports student learning and innovative teaching practice.
- Ensure a minimum standard of device compatibility.
- Enable students to use technology to enhance their learning and to prepare them for the challenges of the 21st century workforce.
- Provide the opportunity for teachers to tailor lesson delivery so that students can use their devices in class.
Learning with Technologies offers three different laptop models to students that meet our minimum device specifications and are able to be configured and connected to the school’s network.
Please note that laptops purchased outside of this partnership with Learning with Technologies will be unable to be connected to the school network or supported by the school, with the exception of Wyndham Central College laptops (either under a current lease or paid out).
Warranty, Insurance, Accessories and Payment
There are several warranty and insurance options provided, although it is recommended that Accidental Damage Protection is purchased. Theft protection is also available as the College does not take responsibility for items of personal property that are lost, stolen or damaged at school or during school activities. Accessories including bags, a bluetooth mouse and USB can also be purchased and multiple payment options are offered to suit your needs.
